For most companies, their businesses are broken up into three broad categories. There’s the core business, the core adjacent viable businesses, and the non-core big bets. So if you are a company like, say, Uber, ride-sharing is the core business, Uber Eats is the core adjacent viable business, and self-driving is their moonshot.
